The head of the Yemeni ministry of drinking water andiasis, Mr. Mohamoud Asadi has been detained along with nine others in a joint operation between the Yemeni coast guard and the Saudi navy. The officials say the arrests were made as part of an investigation into the port at Aden where the majority of the drugs began to be imported from. Authorities say the drugs belonged to Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. It was not immediately clear if those arrested would be released or treated as suspected terrorists. A defense ministry spokesman said the officials took the suspects to a military prison outside the capital, Sanaa. The officials said the nine were being charged with smuggling illegal substances.
