The main source of water in Baku, Azerbaijan is the spring-fed rivers and canals that provide the city with a steady stream of water. The water enters the city via canals that connect these sources of water to the reservoir at the city''s sewage treatment plant. This process does remove some of the contaminants from the water that the water enters the country through.

Although the city''s sewage treatment plant has many facilities in place for water purification, the city still needs to rely on using the canals to ensure that the treated water enters the public. In addition, many citizens prefer to use bottled water
