The town of Parsippany Troy Hills is located in Essex County and is the largest town in the state of New Jersey. It was the first planned community outside of New York City established after the country was formed. During the American Civil War, soldiers would come from all over the war-torn country to be placed in this small town of Parsippany Troy Hills to be trained, tested, and re-educated. It was here that Thomas Edison lived for several years and it is where the great inventor received his early instruction as well as other important training when he was young.
